Practical skills for everyday life

Strong Families take practice. That’s why we offer classes all year on topics like stress management, anger management, and couples communication. These workshops give you tools to handle conflict, reduce stress at home, and strengthen your relationships.

For parents, options include programs such as STEP (Systematic Training for Effective Parenting) and Scream-Free Parenting, which focus on raising kids with respect and consistency. Couples may enjoy classes like the Five Love Languages or Healthy Marriage series. Many courses provide certificates of completion. Check the calendar for the latest schedule.

Family Life Skills
 

Stress / Anger / Conflict Workshop

8-hour workshop designed to assist participants to recognize the symptoms, causes, and effects of stress and introduce an array of stress management techniques. The workshop focuses upon anger management / conflict resolution strategies and techniques. Workshops are conducted the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Oveta Culp Hobby Soldier and Family Readiness Center, Building 18000.  Workshops are also available to units upon request. Relationship Enrichment Program (REP)

Designed to equip couples with information, resources, strategies, and skills to identify problematic marital stressors, recognize danger signs, improve communication, manage anger and utilize effective conflict resolution techniques that will promote the building and maintenance of healthy relationships. Workshops are conducted the 2nd Wednesday of each month, Oveta Culp Hobby Soldier and Family Readiness Center, quarterly off-post retreats, and specialty classes. Professional Training

Provided to mandated reporters (Child and Youth Services, medical, and law enforcement personnel) and community agencies on the identification, reporting, and treatment of spouse and child abuse; the referral process; available programs, services, and resources; and the prevention of family violence. +1 (254)288-2092 or +1(254)287-8989

Domestic Violence Awareness Training for the Workplace

Training designed to provide the civilian workforce with an overview of the dynamics of domestic violence and how it affects the workplace.  Safety measures and available resources are identified. Classes are conducted monthly and available upon request.
